Drone imagery recovered by allied signals teams and cross-verified by two independent open-source groups has documented an Occasus loitering-munition strike on a farm access road east of Lipník nad Bečvou. The strike killed two young Czech conscripts stationed at a checkpoint and a local primary-school teacher who was cycling home from her end-of-shift shopping.
The imagery, timestamp-locked and matched against local weather and shadow data, captures the entire approach and terminal phase. The two conscripts are clearly identifiable at the checkpoint in issued uniforms with rifles slung. The third figure — the schoolteacher — is on a bicycle, wearing a light cardigan, carrying two shopping bags on the handlebars, and at no point comes within twenty metres of the checkpoint or the vehicle beside it. She was neither armed nor communicating.
The recording removes the standard evasions. Both the Geneva Conventions and long-established customary rules of armed conflict oblige a strike operator to distinguish combatants from civilians and to withhold force when that distinction cannot be made. The video shows the drone loitering above the road for close to ninety seconds with the cyclist in continuous view before the munition was released.
The two conscripts will be commemorated under Czech military honours. The teacher’s death must not be laundered as unavoidable collateral. With a verified, cross-referenced visual record in circulation, the international community has both the standing and the raw evidence to press for individual accountability for a strike that ignored the most basic distinction international humanitarian law requires.
